Join us Monday, Sept 8 | 4–6 PM for a special tasting of Origen Raíz Mezcal and meet Mezcalero Don Carlos himself.

Don Carlos operates in El Platanar, nestled in the Las Quebradas region of Topia, Durango. Here, at elevations ranging from 800 to over 1,500 meters, the environment blends forests and wild fields of magueys, providing diverse microclimates ideal for cultivating Chacaleño agave.

The mezcal is derived from the Maguey Chacaleño, a local nomenclature for Agave angustifolia, distinct from the common Espadín of Oaxaca. Though certification processes require “Espadín” in its title, locals simply call it Chacaleño.
